{"id":43369,"date":"2019-04-11T11:57:43","date_gmt":"2019-04-11T09:57:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cruyffalumni.org\/johancruyffinstitute-2026\/event-in-groningen-performance-under-pressure\/"},"modified":"2026-06-30T20:47:43","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T18:47:43","slug":"event-in-groningen-performance-under-pressure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johancruyffinstitute.cruyffalumni.org\/en\/the-magazine\/latest-news\/event-in-groningen-performance-under-pressure\/","title":{"rendered":"Cruyff academic network event in Groningen with the theme \u2018Performance under Pressure\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Students of the Johan Cruyff College and the Johan Cruyff Academy in Groningen will explore the theme \u2018Performance under Pressure\u2019 at a Cruyff academic network event on April 18<\/h2>\n<p class=\"thevelop-dropcap\">Dutch elite artistic gymnast <strong>C\u00e9line van Gerner<\/strong>, two-time Olympian and bronze medalist at the 2018 European Championships, and current student of the <a href=\"https:\/\/johancruyffinstitute.cruyffalumni.org\/en\/programa\/master-in-coaching-amsterdam-english-edition\/\">Master in Coaching<\/a> of the <a href=\"\/johancruyffinstitute-2026?page_id=41528\">Johan Cruyff Institute<\/a>, will examine \u2018<b>Performance under Pressure<\/b>\u2019 with the students of the <a href=\"https:\/\/johancruyffinstitute.cruyffalumni.org\/en\/johan-cruyff-college\/\">Johan Cruyff College<\/a> and the <a href=\"\/johancruyffinstitute-2026?p=43490\">Johan Cruyff Academy<\/a> in Groningen. She will be the special guest and opening act of an event that will be held on April 18 in the city. <\/p>\n<p>Gymnastics is one of the most psychologically and physically demanding sports &#8211; nagging injuries, high expectations, performing to perfection, and a great deal of intense conditioning at a very young age for sure must be toughening.<\/p>\n<div class=\"responsive-video\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/p6pyrAmZ-Tc\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen> frameborder=&#8221;0&#8243; allowfullscreen=&#8221;allowfullscreen&#8221;><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe are very interested in hearing C\u00e9line\u2019s story,\u201d says <b>Afien Bouwman<\/b>, teacher at the <a href=\"https:\/\/johancruyffinstitute.cruyffalumni.org\/en\/johan-cruyff-college\/\">Johan Cruyff College<\/a> and one of the organizers of the event. \u201cSince every athlete will have to perform under pressure at certain moments in their sport career, her vast experience in gymnastics and performing will be of interest for the entire student population of the <a href=\"https:\/\/johancruyffinstitute.cruyffalumni.org\/en\/johan-cruyff-college\/\">Johan Cruyff College<\/a> and the <a href=\"\/johancruyffinstitute-2026?p=43490\">Johan Cruyff Academy<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>C\u00e9line\u2019s story will set the path for a day full of workshops and masterclasses about \u2018<b>Performance under Pressure<\/b>\u2019 for the approximately 100 students who will be attending the event. \u201cWe have asked a sport psychologist, a physiotherapist, a sport &amp; business adviser, a yoga instructor and a <a href=\"\/?cat_ID=23\">sport management<\/a> expert to each design a lecture or workshop about the theme, so participants will have an opportunity to pick the two classes that suit them best,\u201d says Bouwman.<\/p>\n<p>The event is also an opportunity for socializing and networking, and to reflect on the legacy of <a href=\"https:\/\/worldofjohancruyff.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Johan Cruyff<\/a>. \u201cWe are spread over three locations in the city of Groningen,\u201d explains Bouwman, \u201cwhere our students of the <a href=\"\/johancruyffinstitute-2026?p=43490\">Johan Cruyff Academy<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/johancruyffinstitute.cruyffalumni.org\/en\/johan-cruyff-college\/\">Johan Cruyff College<\/a> study different career paths in <a href=\"https:\/\/johancruyffinstitute.cruyffalumni.org\/en\/sport-marketing-and-sponsorship\/\">sport marketing<\/a>, sport business or sport coaching, respectively. This meeting gives us an opportunity to celebrate Johan Cruyff\u2019s legacy together, and to meet and mingle, and get to know each other a bit better\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class='programa-destacado-post'>\n<h3 class=\"especiality-mini-title\">MASTER IN <\/h3>\n<h2 class=\"programa-maxi-title\">Coaching<\/h2>\n<div class=\"thevelop-posts\">\n<article>\n<p>The Master in Coaching is developed for everybody who seeks self-knowledge and self-development with the aim to improve oneself as a (sport) coach and\/or manager. This 7 month program is based on the vision of Johan Cruyff in which sport coaching is more than using tactical and technical knowledge. It is about yourself, the players &amp; staff, the team and the environment.
